Clovelly House
Design by Folk Studio, build by Paperbark Projects, and landscaping by Adam Robinson Design
Written by Claudia Klemich
As strong enthusiasts and fans of Folk Studio, we were delighted to collaborate with them in 2022 and release our wonderful Karu Range. In celebration of their incredible work, we wanted to highlight one of our recent and favourite projects by Folk, which also features some pieces from our collaborative collection.
We are sure you have seen this work of art before, as it is widely admired as one of the studio’s standout projects. We have well and truly fallen in love with Clovelly Project and found ourselves gravitating towards this exciting and lively design.
A home that speaks volumes of a timeless and inventive design. A home for a lively family, a home to entertain in, a home for cozy nights next to the fire— Clovelly House ticks all the boxes.
Folk nailed the brief of building a ‘unconventional’ and ‘soothing’ home, that reimagines coastal living and is an expression of the clients’ personalities. Each room of the house plays with an array of textures, shapes and eclectic pieces, infusing different colours in each zone as you make your way through the home. The same ambience flows seamlessly throughout the home and it all just works so beautifully.
When you first walk into the Clovelly House, you are greeted with a vibrant mustard built- in bench seat with surrounding storage, a subtle marble top and our Bronze Karu handles. The entryway is a beautiful touch that reflects several design elements used throughout the rest of the home. The entryway is the first peek at the overall design of this project, which all makes sense and draws you in to want to experience more.
The kitchen features a grand marble benchtop that pours up the wall and rounds off across the island bench. Hanging off the side of the kitchen is an open plan living and dining room area. Featuring a beautiful mustard yellow booth that stretches across to a bar nook and a cozy living room– the perfect set up for dinner parties. Our favourite feature of this room is the marble detailing on the fireplace, nestled in the corner of the room. The wavy detailing mimics our Karu Handles which is a subtle, yet notable element, which we adore!
We love the way this thoughtful design allows for the natural light to flood in and interconnect the spaces to create a homely atmosphere.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get more charming, we move to the two bathrooms. The layout and design of each bathroom is almost identical, however one bathroom follows a subtle blue theme, and the other follows a blush pink theme.
The blue bathroom features a show stopping, blue marble benchtop with white veining, blue cabinetry and bronze hardware and fixtures. The pink bathroom mirrors the same design replaced with muted white and pale pink tiles, the same luxe marble from the kitchen area and matching pale pink cabinetry. The contrast of the bronze Karu handles and the coloured cabinetry brings a sense of richness to the both spaces, by picking up the subtle specks of brown in the marble’s veining.
